ZaeHD & CEO combine for All In, one of raps most unique and hard-hitting tracks since Mo Bamba
There’s every chance that you have no idea who or what "ZaeHD & CEO" even is.
Brash, comedic, energetic and excitable; hallmarks of most young rappers making their way in the scene today – something this Little Rock based duo have in spades. ZaeHD & CEO rose to fame thanks to the viral success of their dance video to BlocBoy JB’s “Shoot”. From there they have turned their talents to the music industry as rappers filling an obscure and hype-driven niche, led by others such as Shek Wes or even Playboi Carti to a lesser extent. Their style focuses more on getting a crowd jumping and screaming at a full capacity festival, rather than absorbing lyrical content and reflecting. It’s all about how the audience feels, not what they think neccessarily.
All In is the type of track that allows anybody to bop their head without paying much attention to what is being said and it’s for that reason alone ZaeHD and CEO can get away with putting lines as ridiculous as: “Allergic to koalas, need to sneeze”, or “Comme des Garçon, heart on my nip-ple” in the same verse.
This is not a song full of content, lyricism and substance, it’s a turn-up track and a weird and wonderful one at that. ZaeHD & CEO give a pretty accurate assessment of the track in the opening line: “Them hits don’t make no sense.” Produced by YvungQuan, All In’s bare beat is given space to be as abrasive and aggressive as possible, providing many chances for the most obscure ad-libs and one-liners imaginable.
While perhaps not a sign that two potential mainstays of rap are coming of age, ZaeHD & CEO have shown they have enough obscurity and talent to create something as wild and hype as All In, which in today’s rap music landscape is all one needs to make themselves a star – even if it only lasts until the next smash single comes along.
