ABOUT ME

I have always been a music lover and I have always loved writing, so a little over a year and a half ago I made the decision to put my two passions together and write about music. I believe that when music is analysed as what it was originally created to be – art, and not just something to have playing in the background to avoid silence, then every aspect of its creation becomes important. I am fascinated as to why any given artist has chosen particular words over others to tell their story and why they believed it contributed to the narrative of that particular song; or why a certain note on a piano, burst of percussion or clap of the hands was better than any other sound at their disposal. To me, the creative process behind the product is imperative for the audience to properly digest and take meaning from the art they are listening to.

Music is an experience and can accommodate any and all of the human emotions possible. This is because it was created by another human, just like every one of us, and that in itself is what makes art, and music more specifically, such an enjoyable and beautiful part of life.

The main aim of T.I.O. is to show its readership what music is out there to be explored and enjoyed. The music industry has become heavily saturated over time and as a listener and music lover it can often be very difficult and overwhelming to navigate a way through the seemingly never-ending abyss of available music.

I have been drawn to music for as long as I can remember. My parents introduced me to lots of different and unique styles of music as a child, which led to me playing instruments myself and exploring the idea of song writing and the creative process that is a part of being a musician. The process of reviewing music fascinates me as it highlights how music has the power to mean something so different to everybody who listens to it. I have always been fascinated to read why music experts recommend one album, one song, or one artist over another and the reasons behind their analysis. T.I.O. offers the same service, providing recommendations and discussion pieces for lovers of music, that has been created by a lover of music.
